A Message from the President
Welcome to the 2025-2026 academic year at South Texas College. STC is seeing monumental growth through the expansion of programs and educational opportunities.
STC is one of the fastest growing colleges in the state with six campuses in Hidalgo and Starr Counties, and offering more than 130 programs, with an enrollment of more than 30,000 academic, technical workforce training and continuing education students.
This year, we expect to officially offer every allied health program in the profession, with the opening of brand-new programs – Dental Hygiene and Surgical Technology.
We will also continue expanding our artificial intelligence (AI) courses and our technical training to continue offering the most in-demand and advanced technological programs to continue meeting workforce demands.
Most notable is the implementation of STC’s Valley Promise program that serves as a last-dollar scholarship to fully cover eligible students’ tuition, funded by prominent statewide and national partners and STC’s Foundation. Last year, we were able to serve nearly 1,100 students and the first cohort graduates this spring.
In the coming year, we will also introduce a Promise Program focused on covering the tuition of adult, stop-out students who are returning to finish their certificates or associate degrees.
STC remains on the national map with its newly established Registered Nurse Apprenticeship, registered by the Department of Labor, dual credit programs and bachelor’s and online programs, that are positively impacting college and workforce readiness.
With full support from our Board of Trustees, we will continue creating bold solutions and innovative initiatives that move STC forward with confidence and pride.
Along with supportive faculty and staff, engaging technology and resources such as counseling, advising, tutoring and student food pantries, STC ensures that our students find success in college and beyond.
It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy the adventure that awaits as STC Jaguars and that the memories you make here, are ones you’ll cherish forever. Paws Up!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ricardo J. Solis
President
