History

Program Learning Outcomes

1.  Students will demonstrate an ability to contrast cultural influences in society.

2.  Students will demonstrate an ability to explain significant social movements and their impact on history.
 
3.  Students will demonstrate an ability to define and distinguish important political forces in  history.
 
4.  Students will demonstrate an ability to compare and contrast historiographies.
 
5.  Students will demonstrate an ability to analyze primary and secondary sources.

Field of Study Elective (9 credits)
To complete the History field of study, students must take three 3 credit hour courses listed in any Associate of Arts field of study from the following list: Anthropology, Business Administration (Transfer plan only), Communication, Criminal Justice, Drama, Education, English, Arts, Humanities, Interdisciplinary Studies, Language and Cultural Studies, Mexican-American Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work or Sociology.9
It is strongly recommended that History majors choose from the folllowing to complete the field of study electives:

Mexican-American History I
Mexican-American History II
African American History I
