Communication Studies Concentration

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will develop and deliver a speech appropriate to the audience, purpose and context.
  2. The student will analyze the characteristics of a competent communicator as they apply to relationships.
  3. Students will demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate in the workplace in both written and oral formats.
  4. Students will apply group communication competencies during team projects.
  5. Students will construct and deliver effective debate arguments.

Students who select a 3 credit hour Mathematics course to fulfill the Mathematics component of the Curriculum must take 4 credit hours to complete the Component Area Option for the Core Curriculum.

Speech Communication majors must take SPCH 1311 Introduction to Speech Communication to fulfill the Component Area Option of the core curriculum.
