Associate of Science

The Associate of Science (AS) in Architecture prepares students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of Architecture. Students develop skills in architectural history, design, graphics, and technology. They receive fundamental training in software such as AutoCad, Revit, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as other design software and equipment. The degree is designed to transfer seamlessly into four-year universities that offer a Bachelor in Architecture anywhere in the state of Texas.

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Communication Skills: Graduates will be able to communicate ideas within the professional and public setting. ARCH 2604 
2. Design Thinking Skills: Graduates will be able to utilize design thinking to articulate a project through the design development phase. ARCH 2604  
3. History and Global Culture: Graduates will recognize the relationship between buildings and their cultural, historical, and physical contexts, which may include consideration of vernacular and regional settings appropriate to the period. ARCH 1302  
4. Professional Practice: Graduates will explain the collaborative relationship of architecture and allied professions. ARCH 2312  
5. Graphics: Graduates will communicate design ideas graphically in a range of media. ARCH 2604  
6. Constructability: Graduates will demonstrate basic principles of constructability, such as building materials, building infrastructure, structural systems, building envelope, and sustainability. ARCH 2312
