Use of Force

This course is the study of the use of force including introduction to and statutory authority for the use of force, force options, deadly force, and related legal issues. Fulfills the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Use of Force Intermediate Certificate requirement. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

This course covers concepts, investigations process, scene management, required documentation, and case management for incidences of natural, accidental, and suicidal deaths. Follows the Department of Justice National Guidelines for Death Investigations and meets the criteria for academic credit recognition from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.
