Medical Assisting Credentialing Exam Review

This course provides preparation for the Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants), Registered Medical Assistant (American Medical Technologists) or National Certified Medical Assistant (National Center for Competency Testing) credentialing exam. Note: This course may be taken by students currently enrolled in a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Medical Assisting Program who are preparing for the Certification exam by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Procedures in a Clinical Setting

This course places emphasis on patient assessment, examination and treatment as directed by a physician. It includes vital signs, collection and documentation of patient information, asepsis, office clinical procedures, and other treatments as appropriate for ambulatory care settings.

Administrative Procedures

This is a course in medical office procedures including appointment scheduling, medical records creation and maintenance, interpersonal communications, bookkeeping tasks, coding, billing, collecting, third party reimbursement, credit arrangements, and computer use in the medical office.

Medical Insurance

This course emphasizes medical office coding procedures for payment and reimbursement by patient or third party payers for ambulatory care settings.

MDCA 1348

Pharmacology and Administration of Medications

Instruction in concepts and application of pharmacological principles. Focuses on drug classifications, principles and procedures of medication administration, mathematical systems and conversions, calculation of drug problems, and medico-legal responsibilities of the medical assistant.

Medical Assistant Laboratory Procedures

Emphasis in this course is on application of governmental health care guidelines and includes specimen collection and handling, quality assurance, and quality control.

Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Assistants

This courses places emphasis on normal human anatomy and physiology of cells, tissues, organs, and systems with an overview of common pathophysiology.
